In the second one, two answers could be given. Either the actual range 26 oc to 30 oc, or alterntively just the difference 4 oc.
Depending on what was required and which answer your son gave, he could be marked wrong.
with the Everest one was a percentage required (8848 - 5364)/ 5364

I hope the teacher spelll perimeter as perimeter.
I would be interested to know what answers your son put. (Strictly speaking none of the above answers would be right unless the gripper was of negligible width, otherwise there would be a slight overlap at the corners.)
I am sure the expected answer for the second question is 4°C as Eddie says- range has a specific meaning in maths which differes from that regularly used in everyday conversations.
Maybe your son omitted the units in these answers or used the wrong units- eg cm or m²
