Following a period of a swollen abdomen resulting in a distended abdomen will the navel return to normal of its own accord or will medical intervention be required? Are there alternatives to medical/surgical intervention?

If it's an umbilical hernia (I had one of those) it would need surgery. Best consult your GP.
I don't understand your question.
A swollen abdomen is the same thing as a distended abdomen.
Do you mean that you have had a swollen abdomen ( for various reasons), which has now returned to normal (following some kind of treatment), leaving the navel (umbilicus ) still protruding?

If that is the case then Jackdaw is correct.......surgery or nothing.

That made me laugh JNO, I doubt that he will find it so amusing though unless he could get some some cash from the Daily Wail!

It was an error Sqad it should have said distended navel.

I had an umbilical hernia as a child and am quite sure there was no surgical intervention I did have an’ outie’ for a good few years but it did become an ‘innie’.
LOL...right.
Then i agree with Jackdaw......operation or living with it are your only two options.
