Should These Female Tesco Store Workers Receive Equal Pay To The Males Working In The Warehouse?

I presume that males working on the tills receive the same pay as the females, so I take it that if any female worked in the warehouse she would receive the same pay as her male counterparts.
I can't see how the two roles are equal, working in the warehouse must involve much more heavy manual work than just sitting down at the tills.

I've seen both men and women on the checkouts at Tesco and I have read that there are some women working in the warehouses. So long as everybody, regardless of gender, is paid the same as all the others working in the same place (with the same experience etc) there is no argument.
In large companies, you have things calls 'job streams' or 'job families'. They have these to equalise pay across different departments within the same company and these job families will have pay structures which reflect the market.
What we don't know is whether a warehouse worker is in the same job stream as a cashier. If they are, then the pay should be equal (eg. a grade five senior cashier who's salary range is between £15k and £17k should be on an equal footing as a grade five warehouse supervisor).
