I am having my bathroom completely refurbished this year. I have wanted a whirlpool bath for a very long time but I have read so many critical reviews. What do users of Answerbank think of them?

We lived with one in America. Used it once. If its also your normal hygiene bath then you need to take cleaning it out very seriously as the soapy dirty water passes through the whirlpool mechanism and sits there after the bath is drained....so after bathing you have to run it through with cleaner or it will stink and this whether you have used the whirlpool...

I think they're naff, especially corner ones
I personally would'nt dream of getting one. There are far too many people suffering from lack of water in this world.
not sure if this helps at all, but i have a jacuzzi most days after the gym and i love it, so if a whirlpool bath is anything similar then go for it

Personally not sure its worth the effort
Forget it and invest in a decent shower. Baths are vastly over-rated in my opinion - can't remember when I last had one but I'm bored with the whole idea before the bath has even had time to fill.
“Forget it and invest in a decent shower.”

You can’t have a relaxing candlelight relaxing with a glass of wine soak in the shower.

It sounds like a fab idea, especially inviting the girls for a pre weekend jacuzzi to catch up on all the latest gos.
