We saw one as well, Chip. There have been a few about in the last week. Lovely.
Brimstone is often the first one we see but our first this year was a small tortoiseshell last Friday.
Just to change the subject slightly, all the Fieldfares seem to have disappeared now. There were dozens of them in the park last week. Today, not a one.
Perhaps gone to their breeding grounds Tilly.
Back to Scandinavia then, 158?
This Red Admiral pic was taken on the Daphne in February this year. Look at its poor raggedy wings.

Nice photo, LB.
Thanks, I don't know if it's lived through the cold spell. Did you look at the other pic of my rescue cat watching TV Tilly;-))?
I did, yes, LB, but I'm not a cat lover I'm afraid. I wouldn't hurt one but I would never own one.
I've told him Tilly if he touches a bird he's out.
Not seen my first butterfly yet, but I do usually see one in March, however weather gone horrible again today !
