I am intending to fit Plexiglass (acrylic glass) rear-panelling to my kitchen work-top, using silicone as the sealant.

Now I have been advised to use an acrylic sealant.

Having never considered the latter, I would appreciate an explanation of the difference in these two forms of sealant and suggestions of the most suitable for kitchen-use.

Thank you.

Found this, if it's any help. "The one advantage acrylic sealant has over silicone sealant is paintability most acrylic sealants are paintable with most paints this is not the case for silicone sealants. However in all other areas silicone sealants outperform acrylic sealants."

Yes, I would use a thin bead of clear silicone.
