Please can someone enlighten me why the houses on the estate around the bandstand are all named after places in Berkshire/ Oxfordshire i.e. Marlow House, Henley House, Culham House, Iffley House etc......
Thanks in advance

The estate consists of multi-story brick tenements radiating from the central circus, each of which bears the name of a location along the River Thames.
There may be a reason they chose that as a start for naming or maybe not - we have groups of streets named after Lake District lakes, Poets and Battles.

Thank you Mamyalynne!
It's an interesting topic for sure, some places are very clearly named in honour of someone/something - I guess they have to have a seed of an idea otherwise.
Marlow is not in Berkshire or oxon but it is on the thames

I'd love to know who decided to name them (architect/ builder........?)
