Has Ab Ever Been A Lifeline To You

Must admit that AB has been more of a 'lifeline' to me on more than a few occasions than 'professionals' have ever been. 6 yrs ago I went through a bad time with the law etc and about 7 months ago I ended up in a psych hospital after a particularly bad psychotic time.
Knowing that I was dealing with 'real' people as opposed to those that had loads of book learning but no real experience has got me through some tough times.
What about you?
(and thank you all)

a live saver, no but definitely a comfort.
when I was going through difficult times during dad's illness I found a great deal of support here, and when he passed away my whole world crashed around me... I had nobody to turn to as I was the "strong" one for mum et al and had I not been able to turn to my AB friends I don't know how I would have coped... so perhaps not life saving but very important to me then..and now....
Lifesaving no, thank goodness I have never been that down, but supportive ,definitely . Also can have some surprise responses that can look at ones problem with a different perspective. I wouldn't worry about your fasting blood test Nailit. Here in Spain we ALWAYS are told to not eat breakfast or anything and have it done in the morning, having therefore fasted for 12 hours or so.
No.
Not a life line. But it is responsible for the best and worst times
Like Snags I met my husband through the site and without the humour and support of ABers at the time it would never have happened. I have been able to ask some difficult questions and ask for a little understanding when things were difficult when my OH was diagnosed with incurable lung cancer. He's still plodding on and we still find so much to be grateful for. I have been able to use my life and work experience to help others at times, and also to step across the virtual boundary into real life and be of some use to a couple of folk on here. When you are lonely and things are dark sharing experiences and thoughts with online people is better than having no one at all. I have found it a useful adjunct to conventional expert help....
AB has never been a lifeline to me but I have posted at one or two particularly sorrowful times and have been comforted by the kindness of strangers. That said, I doubt you remember it, Nailit, but I recall one night, many years ago, and in a different life, when, during one of your darkest moments, I sat for hours with you, fending off the bile of people who should have been thoroughly ashamed of themselves. Fortunately, between us, we triumphed. Onwards and upwards dear chap. Much love. :o)

Sitting in France at night with no help on hand and a very ill OH, AB, especially Sqad, got me through fear and panic to the daytime and finding help. I also feel that when we are at a very low ebb, people on here rally round.
Can’t say a lifeline, nailit ..... but I’ve really appreciated the friendship at down times.....sometimes it’s just nice to chat when you’re on your own and don’t want to fuss your friends or family....
As for professional help.....we’ll those I saw and those I paid an arm and a leg to weren’t a patch on sqad and his advice......x
