Identifying A Bird Call
16 Answers
Hi, I'm trying to identify a bird. I haven't seen to know what it looks like it but it has a very distinctive call. It's like a fairly high pitched squeaky alarm, it's three quick notes, two or three times, say if you have descending notes with A being the highest and C the lowest, it goes C, A, B then again, twice or three times. I live in an urban area. It would be great to work out which bird it is. Any help appreciated :)

That's much more like it Chipchopper! There are some parakeets near here, escaped and are happily living in the wild (well, as much as Manchester is the wild haha!) not far from me. They have a very distinctive call, I can hear when they are flying nearby, usually always in a group but occasionally a solo one. It's a different call but it could still be them! Apparently they are ring necked ones too!

Oooh thanks Johnny! I wish I could see it as it would make things easier. I keep hearing it but can never see it. I do see the parakeets sometimes, they have quite a distinctive call so I can hear them coming, usually flying in a large group though occasionally a solo one. I'd love to work out what it is.
