A Champion Of Faith.

On of the people I most admired for their strong faith was Hudson Taylor, missionary to China in the 1800's. I read his biography, and he never did anything without prayer and waiting on the Lord.
I would love to have a strong faith like that.
Are there any that stand out for you, as examples of a strong faith?

It's a willingness to prosecute your case knowing that the consequences to you will be bad. The thing I'm admiring actually is courage. I have very strong opinions on many issues, but there's a point at which I'd back off from advocating them. That point is when somebody legally or otherwise is going to give me a good kicking for mouthing off.
Which makes me a coward.

I wasn't arguing More's "sanctity" [decency in your and my case perhaps], Jackdaw: he was quite happy to see people burnt for heresy.
But More died for a principle. He could have renounced (or dissembled) it, like most of this fellow clergy.
"My husband is about to die and he congratulates me on the quality of my custard".
Wendy Hiller to Paul Scofield. Robert Bolt. Man for All Seasons.
