Belfast - Where Can We Sample A Decent Irish Stew !

Arrived in Belfast today and we are keen to try authentic Irish food , my husband especially would like somewhere where he can try Irish stew or a decent meat pie !
We are staying near St Anne’s cathedral and are happy to travel a bit to eat well ! Any recommendations - we are hear until Wednesday ? Thanks !

the Crown bar opposite the bus station beside Europa hotel should have stew and Guinness but Sunday is not best time for plain Irish.. enjoy your stay

Don't want to put you off but I don't think Irish stew is the same in a pub compared to making your own.

If you want decent fish and chips - go into the Merchant Hotel.

Tonight - be quick - if you want local Irish entertainment - make your way to Big Clock, High Street ,- there is a club called Sports Club - brilliant entertainment and brilliant singers from the audience. Have a good time.

Also if you didn't make it tonight to Sports - try the Monday club - think it is 4-7 - brilliant entertainment and great for Guinness.

I agree with Jennyjoan, the only place to get tasty, authentic Irish Stew in Northern Ireland is in the kitchen of a local resident. Mass produced versions in restaurants just don't taste the same. Try to befriend a local, and see if you could wangle an invitation to dinner.
