Quick Birthday Cake For A 4 Year Old.

My daughter has just asked me to make a birthday cake for me GS tomorrow. I am delighted to do it but don't have much time tomorrow. Any ideas ? Push comes to shove I can get one in the supermarket, but I know a homemade one would be much appreciated. Although tomorrow is his birthday, his party is on Saturday and that cake is sorted, tomorrow is a tea with the family, that's about 8 of us

If I was doing this, Sam I would buy a nice cake then decorate it with things he'd love and find fun.....x

I'd buy a packet mix (or two) 4 year olds don't usually care...cake is cake.

Thanks Buenchico and Gness. I will see how my day turns out, if I have time I will go for buenchico's, but I might cheat with gness's idea. From experience I know if a cake is made in haste/under stress it runs out a distaster!

Thanks Mamy and umm. A cake mix sounds a good idea. Gosh, I haven't used one of those for at least 30 years, bet they are better now. Mercadona here I come !

Supermarkets sell some really quirky birthday cakes for children. I got a lovely bright smiley caterpillar from Tesco for, if memory serves, less than £10. Not worth the effort of making.

Well that Stork ready to bake mix is really nice.

You can "doctor" it up yourself like edible toys etc (if there is such a thing).

Sam - it is actually called Stork cupcakes mix - get it where the butter is - Sainsburys.

You just need one exploding candle for fun and the cake won't matter....especially if you set fire to the light fitting just above the exploding candle......kids really enjoy that..... :-)

Best fun we had was a musical candle that started to play as you lit it - but it got faster and faster and we were all in hysterics as we sang like the Chipmunks.
