Kitchen Roof

Hi, I am wanting my kitchen extension roof done this year as it has a plastic roof. I have 2 options I can either have fibreglass or have a rubber roof. I am unsure which option to go for apparently rubber has a 50 year guarantee and fibreglass 20 years. Slate and tile are out of the question as the pitch is low plus I am not to keen on these. Please can someone advise as I need to get thus done this year. Thanks

I agree with Jeff Howell that a "torch-on" felt roof is a good option. Allow for around £50 per square metre for that.

But, recently, I've used EPDM rubber for the first time. It's a great product with a good long life ahead of it.

Nothing wrong with the fibreglass system though. I'm afraid it's down to your choice, Nisar. As with all these things, it really must be done properly by someone who knows what they're doing.

I do like the rubber though ;o)

The fibreglass system is good, and easy to repair in the event. The big draw back is it is hellish noisy in heavy rain. Like a big drum. I would advise anyone contemplating fibreglass to investigate sound insulation as well.

I currently have polycarbonate roofing so it is noisy when it hailstones or when its a heavy down pour. I will be having kingspan and then plasterboard and skim. I guess it is my voice at the end if the day just hope it is the right one. Thanks for your answers.
