Hi can anyone help with this. I am about to insure my car and for the first time I will be the first named driver I usually put my husband and me the second named driver. they will probably ask for proof of no claims which I have but my husband is the first named driver and myself the second will this make any difference ..... Thanks for any replys
You don't have a no claims bonus as the policy is your husbands.
Your new insurance co may give a discount as you were a named driver but strictly speaking you don't have a no claims bonus of your own.
I agree with Islay's comment. I have been in a similar position. I was a named driver on my husband's policy and then took out insurance in my name with my husband as a named driver. Although I had been driving for quite a while with no accidents, I had to start from scratch with no no claims bonus.
Which of course (if they are the owner and/or principle user of the car) is known as "fronting". If discovered the insurers will retrospectively void the policy leaving anybody who has driven it liable to a charge of driving with No Insurance..
