Midis appaer to play in WinMedia but no sound ???

Have WinXP, and downloaded midi song files when clicked on, WinMedia opens up and song appears like it's playing, but no sound comes out....(yes, my speakers are on and working). Can anyone help?

Make sure MIDI is not set to Mute. To do so, go to Control Panel|Sound and Audio devices|Volume tab|in the Device Volume section click on Advanced|check that the Mute box is not ticked under MIDI. If it is, untick it and OK (close) your way out.
If the MIDI column is not there, click on Options|Properties and tick the box next to MIDI|OK then as above.
