The reason I suggested recorded delivery is that what is which my BIL had to do to get refund of £500 odd from Eon.

I am with British Gas on monthly direct debits, and any credit at the at the conclusion of my tariff agreement is paid pack into my bank account.

We were £1,300 in credit with BG. They just lowered our DD to £3 a month to keep the DD active which suited us fine they did though give us an option of reclaiming it.

Scottish Power give you the choice of rebate or leave as credit

He could ask Citizens advice to deal with them on his behalf, or ask his local m.p. for help as they usually have assistants who are very good at this sort of thing.

It seems very odd that EN (EON?) haven't reduced the DD significantly over the last few years
