I am really a Martina Cole virgin, but decided to give her a go after hearing her on Desert Island Discs. I'm currently reading "Maura's Game", and was quite taken aback to discover that there was a heck of a lot of violence and very bad language! I'm not a prude, but not sure that I want to spend time reading something like this. Does she write anything else that isn't quite so violent and expletive laden? Happy to continue reading, but not if all her books are the same. For some reason (and not that I'm an expert in these matters), but I didn't think that this novel was particularly well written ... any advice gladly accepted. Cheers, Chox.
I've read a few and they were the same. I also found repetitive phrasing very tiresome, I particularly remember one page where there was reference to 'her thick, red hair' three times.
I enjoyed the plot and the pace but as you have said, not well written.
Thanks, hc4361. I am glad it's not just me. I think I'll give up, start something else and put the book back on the library "for sale" trolley! Cheers, Chox.

Understatement of the year:-) Once you've read 3 or 4, you've read the lot, imho. I think, basically, her work sells well because some of her earlier novels dramatised. And were, in truth, quite good.
