I gave a lift to the "visitor here". She moved from a little house to a fold last year but since I was giving her and sista a lift - she invited us to see her little home.
She is only 55 years young. Seen her home and then she was showing us around and we went into another old lady 81 in her home. Can't walk with arthritis in both legs, incontinent and the rest. Very pleasant lady bless her.
Now what are your views on the lady in question (81) being alone in this apartment all day apart from carers coming in through the day or being in a nice care home with company and attention 24 hours a day.
I came home pretty low and say to myself - to just be able to walk says everything.
Woof...My granddad was a lazy git (in old age) they put a catheter (sp) in, nice comfy bed, TV and us visiting. He didn't have to move....fitted him perfectly. Plus the home had pets and he loved that. On the days we brought my nan to visit (she had dementia) they'd give her a meal so they could eat together and I'd pop off to the supermarket to fill his drawer with junk food (cakes)
I don't understand - is this sheltered housing?
Looking at the site it appears that they care for people with 'needs' so perhaps the lady had just had the accident. She may be not better off in a home. Each to their own.
I moved into sheltered housing in my early fifties. Not so much for how I was then but how I will be as I get older. No stairs, largish rooms in a well tended block. They don't check on you unless you are assessed as needing support you just have to let them know if you are going to be away for more than a few days, and provide an emergency contact/ keyholder. I would hate to end up in a care home, so hopefully I can improve my fitness or chose my own departure time.
