programme on tonight re a lady called Roisin Pelan I think. She is suffering from cancer but anyway Titchy done the garden and it was beautiful indeed but couldn't help thinking that her garden was absolutely massive that they could havecut the garden in half and sorta paved that - then the beginning could have been laid out just as comfortably for Roisin and her little daughter.

Thought for an ill woman there would be far too much maintenance - surely that's what she wanted to downsize.

Yes the gardens always look lovely but are very rarely practical for the person.

He never considers what THEY want.

The family tonight, they bought the house cos it overlooked the football training ground but they put a big fence up so they couldn't see it!
I wondered about the fence too. They won't be happy about that once they realise it's blocking their view of the football pitch.
Thank you for the answers. Sorry about "bus" typing error! It was a bit late when I was typing it! Last two! Can you help on 2d ""yes love" sounded objective" 4 letters I??a. 11d "odd band's unfinished music" 5 letters r???a. Thanks - Frustrate
she asked for lots of grass at the beginning...and she has a husband to mow...
If she'd wanted to downsize I'm sure she'd have said to whoever deals with that stuff.
They don't just turn up and start digging and chucking stuff about the place william nilliam.
most of the planting was wild flower style ..minimum maintenance..I guess there was room left behind the fence for footie ? large area barked for play area. also a wigwam thingy ...patio/terrace all paved...not that much of an area left really... and her husband is capable of cutting a wee bit grass..
I missed the beginning of 'Love your Garden' but the end result seemed to be the desired one.
The only bit I wasn't keen on was the fake turf on the steps but thats just me.
more practical and safer on steps..non slippy/mushy in bad weather etc and real turf would simply wear away to nothing in a short time
^Think you've posted on thwe wrong tread, Frustrate but anyway
2d Idea (aye, dear)
Sorry jennyjoan!
Minty, I wasn't suggesting that real turf be placed on the wooden steps :-) just some other none-slip material.
I just love this programme, Conne....sometimes brings a tear to my eye....and I often get ideas for my garden....
This garden was just what they wanted and what they needed....no half measures with paving but, like the lady, full of life, happiness and hope....
Alan's last comment was rather fitting.....

"There are some folk in life who really rather drain you.....there are others who just fill you up and are good to be with....Roisin is one of those people."
And wasn't she just!

I wish her a long life in her beautiful garden..... :-)
Oh and I'd watch just for Titchmarsh......nice chap...... :-)
