Extractor Grille

The removable grilles in my kitchen extractor hood desperately need cleaning. They're pretty gunged up with grease etc. Someone suggested soaking them in Coke (the drink, not the Columbian marching powder!!!). Any good? If not, any other suggestions?

Cola drinks are acidic....useless for greasy things. A very strong, very hot detergent bath....or a steam cleaner.

what do the instructions say? Mine go in the dishwasher but not sure if they all do

When I moved in here, the metal cooker hoods were vile. Even the dishwasher couldnt shift it.

Engine degreaser did though (you can get it from car places). Great stuff!

yes it is.....use it with gloves though as it degreases skin well too!

If you can find a big enough container, (the bath?) soak them in Ariel or something similar overnight.

My dishwasher is me, so I don the marigolds and scrub clean with a barbecue cleaner.

Thank you everyone. I've just soaked them in Daz washing powder, Vanish liquid and boiling water. WOW.....sorted!!!
