Four Truths.
27 Answers
On the basis that Theland can bang on to the point of idiocy about his Christianity, I thought I'd start a Buddhist thread, where I can do the same about the teachings of the Buddha...
There are four Truths.
The First Truth identifies the presence of suffering.
The Second Truth, on the other hand, seeks to determine the cause of suffering.
The Third Noble Truth, the truth of the end of suffering, has dual meaning, suggesting either the end of suffering in this life, on earth, or in the spiritual life, through achieving Nirvana.
The Fourth Noble truth charts the method for attaining the end of suffering, known to Buddhists as the Noble Eightfold Path.
Not sure any of that is controversial, mind.

Hi bainbrig....May I ask if you are a Buddhist who is quite happy to be identified along with Theland, as a confused individual.?
I ask the question because I am thinking that Theland's OH has read him right. It is a fact that Theland has reported in a recent thread
"Still got my hair, but missus says lost my marbles! "

//I would have liked a serious discussion about Buddhism//
So would I actually, (if this isn't a wind up post)
Had some interest in Buddhism some years ago but cant quite wrap my head around a few things, try as I might.
My background is in Christianity and the bible (now rejected as nonsense) but still interested in other philosophies.
