I have a ball that has a circumference of 88 inches, what would the diameter be please? And that is going to be a very heavy concrete ball :-)

The formula to find the diameter is circumference divided by value of pi. So 88 / 3.142 = a diameter of 28 inches (approx)

Divide 88" by pye (3.14)
The formula to find the diameter is circumference divided by value of pi. So 88 / 3.142 = a diameter of 28 inches (approx)

Thanks Flonska.
Perhaps NJ, he is trying to "break the mould?"

New Judge, a different question here. I have made a few since that last question. I make concrete balls and the moulds to make the balls. I then sell them.
Hey, my answer was first, and correct.
Question Author
Lol Flonska, my moulds don't break, fortunately!

Sparkly kid, Sorry, you didn't answer the question! I didn't ask for the formula, I asked for the diameter.
Glad to hear it - and thank you for the BA :-)

Dare I ask - what is the ball going to be used for? - I guess it is not a Christmas Bauble, then?

Flonska, they are used mostly for ornamental garden features, fountains and for keeping vehicles off the grass etc. I am now going in to making Atlas Stoned, these need to be made to a specific weight and harder than normal concrete to survive being dropped, however, a 28 inch ball is going to be a bit heavy for most people to lift, even weight lifters, but who knows.

Atlas stones not stoned lol
.....and it's not "pye", so you weren't correct....
You mean . . . like these?

An easy way (for me at least) is to use a 'Richter tape measure' often used by foresters and arborists for getting the circumference of trees.
The circumference is measured and the tape is simply turned over, to tell you what the diameter of the tree, without the need to chop it down.
If you are doing a lot of ball making, then one of these tapes might be a worthwhile investment.

That's the ones Flonska!
