When I do mine I put them skin side up on a medium grill for 7 minutes then turn them over for three minutes. Frying I would fry skin side down for 7 minutes then turn them for the last three.

They were caught by a neighbour. They're gutted but still have the head and after being in my freezer are as hard as a rock.
Wrapped in foil , how long would they need in the oven, and at what temperature?

The link I sent says 25-30 mins at approx 180 - someone who's done them that way may know.

Ah they are whole. Sorry have never cooked whole frozen mackerel . I would tend to defrost before cooking as the outside will overcook before the inside is done. If you want to though, I would put them in a foil parcel with some herbs/lemon and cook them at 160C for around 30 mins, open up the foil and give them and extra 5 minutes.
