Can i send out a reminder, to look after the wee little birdies now it's cold and frosty. This time of year it can be hard for them to find food. Nuts, seeds and suet balls are literally perfect. Anything fat rich to try help keep them warm.
‘My’ goldfinches are getting through two feeders of sunflower hearts a day at the mo.
Also have a seed mix, fat balls, raisins and dried mealworms.
Really enjoy all the birds.
I feed the birds sunflower hearts and get loads of goldfinches and blue tits on my bird feeders. I tried Nyger seed but they didn't bother with it at all.
Before we had out two cats I loved feeding them. The best was in Spring when mummy sparrow sat on the fence, took seeds out of feeders and fed the chicks, quite delightful.
I feed the birds all year round, I find they come a lot more at nesting time and again when it gets very cold in the winter, but they do come all year round. Right now I'm feeding them nuts, coconut feeders with suet and mealworms and putting mealworms on the ground as well.
