What is the Navy going to do to ‘tackle’ the problem? Will it take anyone it picks up back to France – or give them safe passage to the UK? If the latter, it is not ‘tackling’ the problem. It is encouraging it.

hereIam, why do they want to leave france,, few reasons
no id cards, wont be returned to home country, may speak a little english, be given accommodation and x amount of money, claim asylum then send for there wives x amount of children, fathers mothers grand mothers etc etc, get all there health problems sorted out for free, and education, be given a flat or house eventually, and benefits to live on for life, including the family that will be arriving eventually, and any elderly care the in laws may need.
But we're told that most of them are scientists, doctors and lawyers, fender. Why on Earth would they be such a drain on the economy? You surely don't believe that 99% of them will end up washing cars for £30 a day. Many "experts" tell us that the nation cannot survive without untrammelled immigration of this nature (e.g. young fit men avoiding military service by fleeing from Iran) so it must be good for us, surely?
I think Javid felt he had to be seen to be doing something. Sometimes doing nothing is better than doing the wrong thing. But I don't think there is an easy answer that is workable, but I hope one can be found. Stopping the people traffickers is a priority but again not easy.
