Not sure if I have an ingrown toenail.
My big toe has been sore for some time (in the corner) but theres no swelling or redness.
I had an operation to remove an ingrown toenail from my big toe on my other foot when I was 17 and *THAT* looked like a purple ping pong ball. But theres nothing like this on my other toe, just sore and ,if pressed on, excruciating.
Anything I can do or do I need to see GP (or nurse practitioner)?
I remember having some form of 'packing' down the side of my toe.
After spending the night in the hospital (after a general anaesthetic) I then had a home visit from a nurse to change my dressing (I passed out when the packing was removed...was traumatised at the sight of a trench where my toenail used to be)….
Hoping that things may have moved on a bit since then!!
Only teasing you, nailit. Just don't forget to take some rubber piping with you to bite on and choose your widest shoes to wear so that there is less pressure to allow for any dressing after treatment. Hope it goes well for you, night night.
I remember the pain of an ingrowing toenail from when I was a kid ( about 8 years old ). I couldn't even stand the blankets on it in bed, my mom used the fire guard in the bed to keep the blankets of it.
Was removed and even got a few weeks off school so all was good.
During my life Ive had punch ups (broken nose, broken ribs, black eyes, chipped teeth etc) never flinched!
And yet medical procedures perturb me. I avoid doctors like the plague unless absolutely necessary.
Weird I know but doctors and medical procedures put me off.
As regards my toe...its a minor thing but might have to swallow my pride. It bloody hurts!
