I first thought that Mrs May was living in Cloud Cuckooo Land but now I genuinely believe she takes the electorate for complete fools. By betraying the result of the referendum in attempting to cling to the EU by the skin of her teeth if necessary, regardless of the cost to the country, she's already broken faith with Britons. Who would trust her? Lies, lies, and more lies.

The backstop is utterly unacceptable. If the whole of the UK remains in the area we've not left whereas if they switched to NI alone there that creates an internal border that no one else would accept. That it would solve the GFA issue created by the EU is irrelevant, there are better ways to do that than failing to exit.

No-deal is fine. Not ideal, but the EU was never intending to agree a reasonable deal.

As mentioned, the sticking point is the EU, and only if the RoI agree.

Oh, and if the RoI are not slaves to their EU masters, then no problem. They'll see the backstop trap isn't going to be walked into, and will leave the border open. Or maybe they won't, and it'll be neither wrong nor dishonest after all.

No, I am not advocating a second referendum. I could understand her saying ‘No’ to that - we've voted - but in giving the reason she’s given, she’s taking not only Leavers for fools, but the whole of the electorate. Having already broken faith with Britons by attempting to negotiate a deal that the majority didn’t vote for and don't want – and she knows it - to now attempt to portray herself as a character of impeccable ethics really is the height of hypocrisy.
