is the future for travel agents bleak, or is there something of a rennaissance for them taking place?

pretty bleak, I think, as travel operators are cutting commissions. Some agents are thinking of charging customers for their expertise, but this may just drive customers to book direct or on the web. Besides, many travel agents are famous for having almost no expertise whatever and just getting everything out of the brochure, which clients could do themselves.

That's so true jno. When I was repping, the cr@p I had to put up with because travel agents had fed people full of bull in order to sell the holiday and get their targets was disgusting, they lie as much as estate agents! I hope they all go bust, lying gits that they are! Although ofcourse I hope they don't, not everyone has access to t'internet.
