Recycle Bin
2 Answers
I don't seem to be able to change the colour of my desktop recycle bin and as I find it 'intrusive' at times I think that if it was transparent I wouldn't notice it so much! Is there a way to achieve this task?
I don't write code & I would rather stay out of the registry.
Many thanks

However all versions of Windows allow you choose different icons for the recycle bin. In Windows 7, for example, you need to right-click on the desktop and select 'Personalize'. Then click 'Change desktop icons'. Click on the icon for the empty recycle bin and then on 'Change icon'. Click on the icon you want to use. Click on 'OK' and then on 'Apply'. Repeat for the full recycle bin icon.
The problem with doing that though is that the selection of icons available isn't that great. To add further icons of your own you'd need to edit the file imageres.dll, using this tool

PS: It might be simplest to remove the recycle bin from the desktop. Start as above but remove the tick next to 'Recycle bin'. (You could pin the recycle bin to your taskbar if you preferred. For instructions, google 'recycle bin taskbar' and look for the information which applies to your particular version of Windows).
