Why do so many idiot cyclists seem to think it's ok to ride on the pavement. It's still illegal but the police seem to have given up on that part of the law. Now I'm not suggesting they prosecute but why don't they go back to the times when they told you to get on the road? I can remember being told to get off the pavement when I was a kid, they also used to make you walk if your lights wern't working, now they don't seem to care.

I too cycle on the pavement and will continue to do so. It is far too dangerous to cycle on the road. Perhaps it's time to review the laws regarding cycling on the pavement, where there is no cycle path available, as the increased levels and speed of traffic on the roads these days mean that you take your life into your hands just crossing the road never mind cycling on it!
If you can't cycle on the road you shouldn't be riding a bike. I had an elderly lady crash into me the other day whilst waiting a a bus stop! When i remonstrated with her she blathered something about it not being safe on the road. To which i retorted, "Well it's bloody well not safe for me on the pavement!"
