"No wool has been pulled over anybody's eyes,..."
I wasn't talking of the deal generally, Jim. I have always said that it's the EU's prerogative to determine the terms (and ours to reject them). But the wool was definitely taken out of its packet with the "revision" of the deal. On Tuesday morning the papers were full of "a breakthrough" with pictures of Mrs May being embraced by EU politicians. Whether it was she, them or the press who wanted to portray this vision is anybody's guess, but some or all of them wanted us to believe that the agreement had been so radically altered that a majority against it of 220 was about to be dramatically reversed.
