Elias Street, Miles Platting, Manchester 1870S Map
I would like to know where to see an old street map of Miles Platting of the 1870s.
The house would be 26 Elias Street.
Any help please.

From the OS 6" map published in 1891, with Elias Street in the centre: http://www.u pl.co/upload s/OS6inchZoo medIn1556292 984.jpg The same map zoomed out a bit (to help you get your bearings) http://www.u pl.co/upload s/OS6inchZoo medOut155629 3118.jpg In case you're still lost, this has been zoomed out further still:...

The National Library of Scotland has put Ordnance Survey maps of the whole of Great Britain online:

Unfortunately though, Elias Street in Miles Platting doesn't seem to be recognised by the search facility. (You're not the first to have trouble finding it. See here: https:/ /www.br itish-g enealog y.com/a rchive/ index.p hp/t-10 697.htm l ). That doesn't mean that it's not shown on the maps though; it simply indicates that it no longer exists. You'll have to do it the hard way by, for example, accessing the 1893 25" map of the area and looking all around it.
