I posted a bit ago about the 'Buzz Word' that was mindfulness. Mental health services are full of it, along with acupuncture and other such sh it....
WHY is all this rubbish been promoted and paid for?
People that are are ill...mentally or physically...need PRACTICAL support , not some woo.

I spent ages been taught about mindfulness(6 months in fact), having acupuncture, and other such nonsense, only to have my problems solved by practical solutions.

diddly, I spent months questioning this (frankly) daft idea during a 6 month group psychotherapy session. I felt like the odd one out. Didn't do me much good. Nuts if you ask me.
You said it has become a panacea followed by a panacea it isn't....that confused me.....x

Anyway......swearing and saying this is nuts puts an end to any discussion... :-(
Whatever floats your boat - I’ve not been in a position to need any ‘alternative’ help but if I was, I hope I would give it a go.

gness,
Just to clarify....
my uncle swore by it for his arthritic knees.
But saying that its a cure all is patently false. Im sure you would agree ;-)

So it made sense to the rest of the group but not to you, which is what we're saying one size can never fit all and if it's not for you that's fine, but it helps some people so that's surely also fine?
Nailit, who - if anyone - has said it's a 'cure all'?

During a 6 month psychotherapy course, mindfulness was presented at EVERY session. It was taught as FACT.
I often voiced my opinion that it didn't do anything for me (because....it didn't) I found it a useless waste of time and energy when what I needed was practical solutions to very real problems.
It was still presented as a solution to all issues.

In public yes. In private, no.
When talking to the others on a one to one, they ALL said that it wasn't really helpful in reality.
OK nailit, so why did you go?
You do seem to be quite cross/hostile (well that’s how you come across to me on here) so maybe you’re not open to alternative stuff (maybe if I needed help I’d be cross and unaccepting). I suppose you’ll just have to keep banging on until you find something that suits you although that might be alleviated by the fact that you’ve now got a job (glass half full and all that jazz).
Tilly, I didn't know what 'mindfulness' is either so thanks for mentioning it. I hate all this 'newspeak'.
Well, now we know, Naomi. :-)

Mind how you go.
Mindful I will be, Tilly. ;o)
I might think of a good answer, if I put my mind to it...
Doubtless.
I have to go now. Never mind, I'll be back later. :-)
:o)
