Phone Stopped Taking Photos

My Doro phone used to take passably ok photos. Not great quality but good enough for me.

Suddenly the camera stopped working and a message appeared "The phone storage does not have enough space. Please release some storage or insert a SD card".

So I transferred all the photos to PC and deleted them from the phone. But the message still appears and still can't take any photos.

I have two questions:
1. Can anyone suggest what I should do to get the Doro phone to take photos again?
2. Is the problem on the actual phone, or on the sim card? If I ditch the Doro and buy a nice little Samsung that I have seen, will transferring the sim card simply transfer the problem?

Hope someone can put me right here. I am a bit of a technophobe.

Thanks guys. Tried the trick of removing the card - no use. Don't know what to try, other than getting a new phone and new sim card.
