Tonight, we will see Hastings strongly protesting his innocence. That he was only trying to set a trap for the real "H". But he will be charged, tried, convicted and sentenced. And that will be the end of that and the series. "H" is banged up at last. But hang on! There's a Series 6 coming along isn't there? Yep. And this will focus on Hastings proving his innocence and the exposure of the real "H". Which begs the question, why couldn't he do it Series 5? Good innit?
Anyway, it makes me wonder why the Met need all those AC Units all over the place. Is the writer trying to secretly convey some kind of inside knowledge?

Ken4155 - the Sun published a story, claiming that producers were desperate to sign Martin Compston to series six and seven.
Before the Sun printed that story, they asked for a comment from Jed Mercurio - the series writer. He said it was not true. The Sun printed the story anyway.
Jed then issued a very strongly worded tweet (that I cannot repeat here) denying that the next series hadn’t even been written yet, let alone cast.

I don't think that I have got my episodes mixed up SP, but just to make sure, does episode 5 show you what happens to Hastings?
Because the one I saw does.

sp1814; as i said, there are quite a few sources from which i have learned that series 6 has been 'commissioned' - i didn't say written or cast. Express, tv.bt.com, inews.com, wicki and more besides. In an interview with inews, Jed Mercurio said, "Once series 5 has finished airing, we'll have a conversation with the BBC, with a view to whether there's a possibility to series 7 being commissioned." That's 7, s-e-v-e-n, sp. Obviously a 7th series would have an impact as to what he includes in the 6th.
And i've just read the tweet you refer to in which he calls the Sun out for saying they were desperate to tie Martin Compston down for another 2 series. In it he states he hasn't written 6 yet, never mind 7. Which, of course, you have interpreted as there will be no series 6. To my mind, all it means is that he is yet to begin writing it.
After last weeks episode it looks like Hastings is H, so that means it probably isn't! But then what about the spelling mistake? In an earlier episode when H was communicating with Lisa and John via laptop he spelt 'definitely' wrong, then when Hastings took over from that female on the laptop a couple of weeks ago he also spelt 'definitely' wrong. Was this a big clue or just a big red herring?
Anagram; perhaps he spelt it incorrectly so that those on the receiving end of the message would believe it was 'H' who was speaking to them. Remember the female analyst had a list of phrases etc that had been used during the conversations and Ted had seen those. Everything in the last couple of episodes has pointed to Ted Hastings being the mastermind 'H' but Jed Mercurio simply does not do 'obvious'. We haven't yet seen anyone twiddling their moustache with an evil glint in their eye and i do hope it's someone i don't like - that Gill woman, for instance. I'll cheer if it's her :-) I've noted that the bookies have Kate as fav but i do hope they're wrong. Let's not forget, they got the outcome of the referendum completely and utterly wrong.
