Can anyone parse these, please? All are from today's Vlad in the Guardian. I got all by guesswork, and all appear to be correct. But I can't fully work out why in any case.
Most important person to lead America? Idiot! (3,6)
TOP BANANA (totally mystified by this)
Composer Henry ignored minor problem over National Insurance (7)
PUCCINI (a composer, sure, and NI, but who is Henry? Purcell?)
Opposed to some financial help for drifter (7)
MIGRANT (only the MI is the problem, obviously)
All helpful in solving some parts of the whole, so can't nominate a best. You are perfectly right about VAGRANT. Living in the US, whose President seems to think that migrant and vagrant are the same, doubtless led me into that error. For the same reason, I was tending to think of the first clue as something of an &lit. But I would never have got the parsing go either TOP BANANA or PUCCINI without help, so many thanks!
