I would base my thoughts on them based solely on the reply given, apparently by Jack Russel themselves telling the OP they have had a cheque returned to them from the OP - how the hell do they know who the OP is?!
Laughable company just from that post alone

Further on, they have themselves been in court for non payment

How are you involved or interested? Whoever they are , they need a case and a County Court judgment before they can do anything.

Assume all Debt Collection Agencies are dodgy until proven otherwise, they have no power without County Court backing and just try it on with scare tactics. Ignore if you've received correspondence from them. More fool them for buying a debt to try and recover!

Avoid like the plague. I hired them to collect a debt which they failed to collect. They then decided to invoice me for a percentage of some other payments made by the same client which were nothing to do with tthe debt, and took me to court instead of my client when i refused. The judge told them to stop being silly today. It's a shame they have been doing this kind of thing for so many years, but it's pleasing to have made them drive up and down 200 miles through the road works on the m6 a few times
