Boris The Buffoon
So we are destined to suffer this utter buffoon in Downing Street just to keep the Tory Party together and in power. God help us all .....and they think it is democratic????

There are two or three rounds of voting to go, so it might not be the foregone conclusion it appears now. And Boris is only ever 5 minutes from an embarrassing gaffe, so it could all go pear shaped very quickly. It is scary that someone so obviously unsuitable is the front runner to lead a scary and unsuitable Government.

Confused. There are 313 Tory MPs. 114 voted for Johnson in the first round, so that leaves 199 non-Johnson votes (assuminghe gathers no more). But for two other candidates to surpass him they need a minimum of 115 votes each, or 230. Gove 80 + 37, Hunt 76 + 43, totals 236. Where are the extra votes being generated ?
OG,
I assume that for Johnson not to make the final two, he would have to lose some votes.
For example, in the 2016 contest, in the second vote Gove got less votes even though there were more votes available because two candidates had been eliminated.
That is unlikely to happen to Johnson, but some tactical anti Johnson voting could happen because he is not particularly liked by his colleagues.

Jackdaw,
This is the New Statesman, so you may wish to disagree with it...
// the parliamentary Conservative party, where a sizable chunk of MPs believe that Johnson is a winner but carry grave reservations about his ability to be Prime Minister. Those fears range from a belief he would be lazy and ineffective to people who think he is not a fit and proper person. One Conservative MP, who is nearer the beginning of their career than the end, told me they would “retire” rather than serve in a Johnson-led government.
Until relatively recently, it was a well-sourced commonplace wisdom at Westminster that the doubts that Conservative MPs have about Johnson’s fitness to hold office would mean that he would never gain the support necessary to become the party’s leader. //

19:22......New Statesman????? Haha. Why not quote Peking Times or Pravda, or Al Jazeera?
Whilst you are at it post the full text not you edited version.
// a sizable chunk// How many is that then?
