It's not as if we can license them or monitor the sales of knives differently than we do now...by age. Nor can every person of a certain age be checked to see if they are carrying one. Apparently ASDA has stopped selling individual kitchen knives, as these are the ones most frequently stolen.
This incident happened about a mile up the road from me and appears to be a domestic. Poor woman and poor little mite, who, if it survives will have to bear the mental scars of what happened to him/her.
A colleague of mine spent years living in fear of her partner until she found the courage to escape. She was too scared to tell the police or seek help but lucky to have survived. It shouldn't happen but sadly it does.

Hmm... would have thought they might be most in demand to. Does everyone only replace knife sets all at once, or single items ? Perhaps supermarkets aren't the ideal place to sell/buy kitchen knives at all.

Yes this is a awful, will this sort of crime end? I don't think it will, if anything it will get worse. The amount of rage in some people is on the increase. I was chilling out at a small holiday destination yesterday, just down the road from me, and in the main high street there were some temporary traffic lights causing a longer hold up than normal, to add to that you have folk who think they have a right to get from A to B before anyone else, so they skip the lights, park on double yellow lines, and in turn causes more problems.
The result of this is other drivers losing their cool, short tempers, less tolerant, stepping out of their cars in a moment of madness and rage, add to this a hot day, drink and drugs, and its not long before you have a murder on your hands. We are sadly becoming a nation of greedy, selfish less tolerant, and short tempered idiots.

I'm hoping to move from Thornton Heath as its become a not very nice area.
On my way home from work last Tuesday I witnessed an awful incident at West Croydon bus station where a large gang of kids started attacking another child as he was getting on the bus. Many people witnessed it but other than call the police you can't get involved in fear of being on the receiving end of a knife.

I'm still trying to get my head around this. 8 mths. pregnant - so no excuse for not knowing. Only the most depraved person/people would do this. You would have to plumb the depths of a WW2 situation (Russian front) in order to find the equivalent. An argument for the reintroduction of the death penalty? Hope the baby survives.
