For the past few months small (tiny) brown-ish dots keep appearing on my boyfriends shirts. Not sure whether it's the washing machine causing them or the ironing board or the iron itself...has anyone had this happen - and how do you get the stains out once they are there? It's a mystery and it's ruined 7 shirts so far....? Need to know where the marks are coming from and how to get rid of them - HELP?!!!

if you have a steam iron it may the 'muck' that sometimes come out of the spray jets. thats the only thing i can think of. how long have u had your iron? the older they get the worse can be
sounds like tiny rust marks if they are just on the stuff you iron must be the iron or board but if on everything could be your washing machine have you lost a bra wire as this could be trapped in the machine somewhere and chaffing when it spins and giving off tiny metal fragments or could be the drum
do you use filtered water in your iron? If you do, it could be that as the filtering process leaves iron deposits in the water which obviously turn the water brown when it is boiled. I ended up chucking a big steam tank iron away as I killed it with this kindness....:-(

You could try removing them with ordinary vanish and a scrubbing brush or leaving them in a sterilising solution for a short time. Not too long though or the colour may bleach out, but then if they are ruined anyway? Alternatively, re-dye them a darker colour, black is very in, or any dark colour really, navy eg.

good luck
