I have home insurance with Tesco.Only ever made one claim for a wall partly demolished by a car.Phoned them and was told to go ahead over the phone, cheque received within a week.No complaints.
Shop around. Prices vary depending on where you live, past claims etc etc.

is it a question of , i tell tesco i am happy with their car insurance so would they be favourable ie discount regarding house insurance keeping both policies with same company
It could be cheaper but that isn't necessarily the case. Get a quote from Tesco then use the price comparison sites and check out Direct Line - they don't use the comparison sites.
Shop around I found it best to do so especially for travel insurance,it’s a pain in the bum trying for insurance at a certain age.
