Planting A Mature Conifer
6 Answers
I have just bought a Goldcrest conifer tree about 3.5 metres high.
I want to fill a gap at the end of my garden. It's in a 50cm diameter tub which is 50 cm high.
I've dug a hole in some very stoney hard soil and am ready to take the plunge to get it out of the tub if I can and to plant it.
Does ant member have knowledge of what sort of soil/compost would be best and should I feed it with some fertiliser?
Appreciate any suggestions.

Hope its not root-bound (roots gone round in a tight circle) and can continue to grow like that, after liberating from the pot. If so tease the roots out as much as possible.
Enrich the soil with garden compost and mix in.
If its a windy site, I think I would stake it too.
Above all keep it well watered until established.
