Ok, I hate posting questions like this but here goes. I’ve had perfectly normal periods up until this month. This one started as usual, but is still going on 3 weeks later with no signs of stopping! And it’s much heavier than usual.
Now I gather that women can start the first signs of the menopause as early as their early forties, but I thought that periods were meant to slow down, not get heavier. I’ve looked online but am just getting all different info.
I don’t want to bother my doctor unnecessarily, but is this something to worry about or not?

If none are available perhaps she could look around and see if there is a young, male gardener who could help?
my first menopause symptom was a 30 day bleed at age 41 . I got advice around day 15 from the specialist nurse and who said it was probably perimenopause given my other mild symptoms (hot flushes) was told to wait and see if I was happy to do so. It got heavier so I saw her again around day 30 and she gave me depo provera (this is around 25 years ago) which stopped the bleed and sorted me for a couple of years. I would certainly get some advice soon but don't panic.
Jack if I had said that there would have been plenty said, but you get away with it because of your omnipotence, don’t think that is the word I was looking for, hope you are well my dear.XX
Answer of the season ....... jth .
Smow you say you have had no signs of the menopause. At 50 years age my guess would be that this is exactly what is happening now. Hot flushes next woo hoo!!
My Mum had menorrhagia several years ago and was put on Tranexamic Acid- she had twins after that so not necessarily part of the menopause perhaps, then again perhaps it is. She's 50 now and still no sign or symptom of it, but Sqad's advice seems sensible.
I had this once and I was given some tablets just to stop the bleeding. I was feeling exhausted with it. Settled down after that.

After still bleeding really heavily I ended up fainting yesterday. Have managed to get into see doctor this morning. She said my blood pressure was quite high. She’s prescribed me tranexamic acid tablets 3 times a day and said if I’m still bleeding in 5 days then to go back to her, but she then sent me to the hospital for blood tests to check my blood count - I’ve just got back.
Feedback much appreciated,
