Grass Seed

I do think that that last batch of grass seed came from a garden centre it was probably the worst that didn't grass up. Anybody advise of good grass seed. thanks

There used to be a seed called Canada Grass. I think you had to buy it on line. It was very good, quick growing grass. I haven't seen it for a while.

Balders how much area do yo need to seed! You could start forking soil to aerate it first.

I remember many years ago, when I went to use a batch of grass seed that had been stored badly and subsequently spoiled by mice.
It looked okay but it didn't have a hope, it was virtually all husk.
I now store it in a sealed glass jar, so the mice can only window shop!,

The best piece of advice I can think of, is buy a seed to suit the situation you have ie shady, hard wearing, fine lawn etc...
Keep it well watered until established, it only has to dry out once and its curtains.

I had some Westland grass seed that I bought in 2018 and didn't use until spring this year. It didn't germinate and on contacting Westland they saw from the product code that it was 2017 stock, which explains why it didn't germinate (they were very good and refunded me the cost). Lesson learned - always use fresh seed. Since then I've used Tesco basic lawn seed and it's been fine.
