74Yr Old First Time Mother

I see that a 74yr old Indian woman has given birth to twins after IVF treatment. Her husband is 80 and they were married in 1962.

Surely this can't be right?

(Was thinking along the lines of the oldest person is 129 but doesn't have a birth certificate, that sort of story rings a faint memory from some years ago)

A kick in the teeth the any young couple desperate for a kid but unable to afford IVF.

Suggests in the BBC article that this previously childless couple had felt stigmatised by the village because of that fact. Not that this justifies the medical intervention -- better to provide counselling, if they felt stigmatised to the extent that they thought they *needed* to have children -- but, if true, it's easier to sympathise with the new parents' motivations.

As it is, two young children likely to lose one or both of their parents at a (very) young age. I can only hope that they are well-supported when that inevitably comes to pass.

child rape at an all time high, let alone murder...a disgusting society
is india...caste system endemic, space program, nukes...but clean water is mmm an after thought, let alone schooling, public health..
nukes and space programes...so worth it.

I see that both parents are in Intensive Care. The father has had a heart attack and the mother has been there ever since giving birth.
