Thanks,
I was brought up in the village of Hemsworth where it was used all the time. I tried asking colleagues at work (from Barnsley, wakefield and Leeds) the same question and approx. half had never heard of it.
One chap who was brought up in Thurnscoe had never heard it used either.
No-one seemed to know where it originated from though.
I don't know if this is correct, but I would love to find out what Dick n Liddy means. I use it and I am from Bradford. Media URL: http://gerald-massey.org.uk/waugh/b_barrel_organ.htm Description: Lancashire Dialect.
