How are we, as a society, going to stop this knife culture? Can we try and have some ideas rather than turning this into the usual political slanging match, thanks.

Ah, so you admit you were wrong when you said I didn’t have any ideas. Excellent. We seem to be making progress. All you have to do now is admit the Birch was a crazy idea and we’re really cooking with gas.
ZM what I should have said is that you do not have any feasible ideas.
Although I said it was a controversial idea, it certainly wasn't crazy. I am still waiting for a better idea that will actually work.

It isn't (or shouldn't be ) an option to bring up children without some form of religious, or spiritual aspect to their lives.
These kids lives are bleak, bleak, bleak.
Anyone who doesn't see this isn't fit to be a parent.
Nice attempt at backpedaling, danny. It was a damn site better idea than the Birch.
ZM I am not back pedalling.I really think that you should take a course in reading and understanding what you read.
‘ It isn't (or shouldn't be ) an option to bring up children without some form of religious, or spiritual aspect to their lives’

Religion is the cause of an awful lot of evils in the world. The last thing we need is one set of kids (gang, if you like) being taught one religion and some another. It would be a great way to exacerbate the situation rather than improve it!
danny, you wrote ‘I see that you have no idea how to solve this problem’ when I’d made a couple of suggestions. That’s what I read. Stop trying to cover your tracks when they’re there for all to see.
ZM everybody is welcome to see my tracks, as you call them.End of discussion.
Yeah, erm, that’s what I said. But we’ll done for catching up. Eventually.
Bye ZM.
Frekonomics criticised the broken windows theory - it argued that the big motor in reducing crime was liberalising abortion laws. Fewer vandals etc were being born, and fewer kids meant better parenting.

Khandro, //It isn't (or shouldn't be ) an option to bring up children without some form of religious, or spiritual aspect to their lives.//

That really is absolute nonsense. You have no idea how the people involved here have been raised. Most Islamic terrorists are raised with religion - and those who haven't been raised with religion adopt it. So much for your theory.
n//Most Islamic terrorists are raised with religion -//
I didn't say any religion will do.
Khandro. You said “some form of religious, or spiritual aspect to their lives”, and I gave you can example of that.

The thing is we hear about black on black crime among teenagers, for example, but the chances are that those kids come from religious homes. I don’t know many from Africa or the Caribbean who don’t embrace some form of religion - very often Christianity. That doesn’t stop their kids knifing one another though - something quite alien to my atheist household. Your theory is wonky.

Not only is that an unfounded assertion, in an overwhelming majority of these cases, these youths come from single parent homes without a father.
Bring back national service, prison doesn't work
