As they are optional then you have to wonder why any are worn at all.

If you are experiencing a difficult period, a quiet word with your direct manager and perhaps any close colleagues who may have to cover you that your loo breaks may take a little longer.
It's Japan though. There is a hierarchy and staff have to do as they are told. It's only recently that staff (particularly women) can actually speak up for themselves.

I wouldn't like to wear a badge, but there are times when I would have liked a little understanding. When younger I had to be sent home from school because I was in such pain. At long last my mum saw me really suffering and took me to the doctor's, which helped, but I spend my life being chemically controlled in that dept.. After that it was bearable, then ok and then aged mid-40's a nightmare again with flooding etc..... not easy when you are stuck in a classroom.

Some girls and women really do suffer dreadfully physically as well as emotionally and mentally.
Maybe some ABers could have a little sign next to their profile so that we know if they are menstruating.
