I like this programme and very much admire the skills of the craftsmen and craftswomen. However I find Jay Bades almost as irritating as Nick Knowles, anyone else agree.

Not really. A show needs a presenter to string it all together. Can't see what folk have against him.
Yes can get on your *** a bit but as you say craftspeople are amazing. Useful place to pick up some DIY tips.
The voice-over often tells us Blades is 'an expert upholsterer' - so why doesn't he do the upholstering? As I've said before, he just walks around as if he's the proprietor, and stands there taking the thanks from the people returning for their much-loved items, repaired by the real experts on the programme. I wonder if he gets on their nerves as much as he gets on mine.
If you have watched the programme "Money For Nothing" you will see that Jay is an expert craftsman who can turn his hand to lots of things, not just upholstery. He is the presenter of The Repair Shop rather than one of the craftsmen/women, but he holds the show together.
maggie, the programme does not need someone to 'hold the show together'. The people bringing their cherished objects could easily just be met by the expert(s) going to do the repair, and there is a voice-over to give us background information.
I like all of them and I've picked up lots of tips from the programme, mainly patience and perserverance with a lot of practical ideas.
Same as johnk
I think Jay is the required BAME presence since all the restorers seem to be whiteys.
