I'm thinking of replacing my boiler as the one I have is 14 yrs old and not as efficient as I think it should be.The one I am looking to buy is the Worcester Bosch Greenstar combi which I think sells for just over a thousand pounds. It would be a straight swap with I should imagine the original pipework. How much should I expect to pay to have one installed? Thanks.
When I get an estimate, I want to make sure the person fitting it is fully qualified and insured. What do I need to know about this. I remember the person who fitted my old boiler was Corgi registered but I don't know if things have changed since then.
Straight swaps are rare, Barsel.
So, it could be more if minor alterations to plumbing connections are needed (you can bet on it.)
Also, incoming gas supply (from meter box) may need to be increased in size.
You'd be very lucky if the balanced flue (through the wall/roof) doesn't need alteration.
Anyway, this is all guesswork. You must get proper estimates to be sure.
Thanks The Builder. The boiler that is already in is the same as the one I want to replace it with, so I'm hoping that too much work won't need to be done.
How much more efficient do you think the new one will be? It looks like you're looking at at least £1500 to swap and you can buy a lot of gas for that.
